The Light of God’s glory
Text Matthew 5:14-16; Isaiah 42:5-7
Biblically, light often symbolizes knowledge, truth, and the presence of God (Psalm 119:105, John 8:12).
Believers should openly display their faith and the Gospel's truth, not hide it.
The first reading is a reminder from Jesus to the chosen to make sure they allow their light to shine to give
light to people. The second tells us the function of the light: open the eyes of the blind, free captives from
prison, and release those who sit in darkness from the dungeon. (Isaiah 42:5-7).
Jesus Christ is the light, and whoever believes in Him will have this light in them ( John 8:12; 12:35-36; 2
Cor 4:6 ).
WARNING: The world needs the light of God, but at the same time, the world will persecute the light
bearers (e.g, John 3:17-18; Matt 10: 16)
CASE STUDY between Vashti and Esther
Vashti was disposed as queen mother because she grumbled and rebelled against the king (Esther 1; Phil
2:14-16). Grumbling dims the light of God’s glory in you. Never misplace your lousy character, weakness,
or failures in public; this will bring you down, but seek help.
Esther: This gave Esther, an orphan and a captive, the chance to become the next queen (Esther 2:7-10).
Esther put her lamp on the table, saving many people from destruction (Esther 8:5-8).
Importance of Preaching and Transjordan Ministry
Preaching is telling people about God’s word: to explain things to them or to remind them about their
duties, or to warn them, or to encourage etc
Moses told the believers who settled first to help their brothers to settle (Joshua 1:12-15).
E.g, Mordecai had to send a strong message to Esther to let her light shine (Esther 4:12-17)
The woman at the well made her light shined so that people came to believe in Jesus (John 4:28,39-42)
The four men with leprosy went to the city and told them the good news (2 Kings 7:8-10)
Jesus told Peter to help others after He interceded for him (Luke 22:31-32).
