Christ's perfect Sacrifice: For Healing, spiritual protection, and eternal life.

People far from God do not know how blessed and special they are to Him.

People who do not know or understand the value of what they have usually despise it, look down upon it or reject it. That was the state of the Hebrews; they were on the verge of abandoning Jesus Christ. The writer wrote to them to explain the greatness and precious gift of Jesus.

Today’s sermon looks at how, because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we do not need any other sacrifice. We shall consider this topic in three areas: healing, spiritual protection, and eternal life.

Text Hebrews 10:8-10; 1 Peter 2:24-25

Christ’s sacrifice (blood) and protection from evil, Satan,

etc. There is evil (one) in our world. Jesus teaches us to pray to God to deliver us from evil (Matt 6:13). When you become a child of God, you return to the overseer of your soul-God, the most secure protection (Rev 12: 11; 1 Peter 2:24-25). People must only seek spiritual protection from Christ.

Christ’s sacrifice (blood) and healing

  1. Sickness can come from wear and tear of the body, sin, or evil spirit.

  2. Sickness due to sin can come from the person or the parents (e.g., John 9:1-13).

  3. Sicknesses due to wear and tear of the body can be healed by rest, food, medicine, and plants (Genesis 2:15-16; Psalm 104:14).

However, sickness due to sin or evil spirits can only be healed or cured by God through the forgiveness of sins (e.g., David in Psalm 32; Numbers 21:1-4; Psalm 107:17-20; Matthew 9:1-8, James 5:13-20). People who are sick due to sin can only be cured by God through Christ as they repent, or else they will die in their sickness because of sin. Thus, we should encourage people not to live or die in sin. The means God uses to bring about the healing (1 Peter 2:24, the blood of Jesus). The word of God (knowledge, e.g. (Psalm 107:20).

Christ’s sacrifice (blood) and eternal life (Heb. 10:19-25): We draw near to God through Christ because, in Christ, the sin barrier is taken away (2 Cor. 5:21). When people reject God, their only hope is a return to Him.

Holy warnings against sin or rejecting Christ (Heb. 10:26-30)

Most people are struggling in life because they love sinning and have rejected the way of salvation.
