The theme for 2025: Chosen by God in Christ Jesus to bear fruit that will last
Text John 15:16 ; 1 Peter 1:1-2; 1 Peter 2:4-5;9-10
We don’t choose God; God chooses us. The chosen ones enjoy special blessings
Who are the chosen?
They accept the invitation to God’s kingdom and comply with its conditions. Thus, they do what God wants them to do (e.g. Matt 22:1-14; Matt 3:13-17).
Characteristics of the chosen
The Bible teaches people the characteristics of the chosen so that those chosen by God will know what to do.
They wear wedding garment of holiness (Matt 22:1-14; Ephesians 1:3-10; Revelation 7:13-17); They work in the vineyard of God (Matt 21:28-32);
They are wise virgins (Matt 25:1-13);
They are faithful servants who make a profit for God (Matt 25:14-30).
They are sheep who help others (Matt 25:31-46).
The chosen ones do not just come for God’s blessings; they become God’s people (John 6).
Why does God choose some people and does not choose others? (e.g., see Gen. 4).
